Multi-User / Network Setup

iMagic Inventory supports multiple users on a local area network (LAN).

Overview

One PC acts as the server — it hosts the shared database. All other PCs connect to this shared database over the network.

Setting Up the Server PC

1. On the server PC, go to Start Menu > iMagic Inventory > Network Administration.
2. Follow the prompts to set the Database Folder to a shared network location (for example, \\ServerPC\SharedDocs\iMagic Database).
3. Ensure the shared folder has read/write permissions for all network users.

Setting Up Client PCs

1. Install iMagic Inventory on each client PC.
2. Launch the software — it will ask for the database location.
3. Point it to the shared database folder on the server PC.

For 30+ Users

For larger teams, consider the MS SQL Server Edition, which provides better performance and scalability for high-concurrency environments.
